Default Anyone using Sumitomo HTR Z II Tires

The price is certainly attractive, 275/40-17 are $99 at tire rack, 225/45-17 are $81. Treadware is 220 and the reviews are good. I saw one in the 275 size and they tend to be very wide and not too tall. These are different from the old HTR Z, which wore out quickly. Any opinions or experience with the Z II?

They are a good all around tire if you are not pushing the car too hard. As far as a performance tire, they are not that great. We have customers that like them alot but they are not the customers that will be doing much sliding around corners or driving really agressively. The wear seems to be pretty good and I would consider them better then Kumho's or Falken's but not in the class of Bridgestone or the better stuff from Yokohama. The AVS ES100 Yokohama's are a bit better tire and still in the price range of the HTR II.

I had the HTRZ's on the GT and I liked them fine. Quiet and predictable. Alot of tire for the money.

Poor traction. I have them now. Bought them to mate up with my Kinesis 17x9.5" and 17x11". 275's in front, 315's in the rear. I liked my Kumho's better. I DO push the limit, these are not the right tires.
For casual driving, they would probably be fine.

Derek, are you sure they're the HTR Z II and not the HTR Z? I don't think they make the Z II in a 315 but they do in the Z.

You are correct CFC. I just double checked, they are the "Z" and not the "ZII".

Thanks for checking! I'd heard the Z weren't great tires and wore out quickly.
