Another question..
Does the car run without the supercharger unit installed?
As there is no intercooler and everything is so small... it seems to me like it would be possible to hide pretty much all of the system within the stock intake components.
Why do I ask?
We have to do MOT every year and I´m sure it is impossible to get this supercharger upgrade legally signed in the cars papers (and than I would have to pay enormous taxes). So I was thinking of just dropping out the supercharger, doing the MOT and everything back in again
(Sure they won´t complain about the extra radiators - pretty much non of these guys have seen a 928 before, they didn´t aeven realize the X-Pipe and RMB)

Ever tried this kit in Combination with your intake manifold spacers? (Just because I'm curious)
greetings from Austria
Chris

Thanks for the information
So is there any product that would fit my 89 S4?

I understand California is the same way. I'm not sure how well the car will run w/o the SCer installed, but it should still run. But to be fair, this is a question that Carl should answer directly.

I'd be a little careful.... this was posted in 2001. I would check with Tim to see if those prices are still valid.

Sure Andrew, it was primely designated to Carl but you've been to fast with your reply on my first question So you crossed my flood of questions
If this "build in and out" would really work, my project for the next year would be this one.

To help clarify... there are really two different products available from these suppliers today.

http://www.murf928.com/

http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/32v_stage1.php

Plus if you add in twin screws... there is this one here:

Sorry, didn't realize the original thread was in regards to a Murf kit.

I know the car will run with the belt cut, and quite well too. The question becomes emmisions, but I think you'll be fine.

The stage one kit can be removed in a few hours, I thnk.

It will run fine if the supercharger belt is cut or removed, but will be down on power some compared to the stock car, because of the engine having to pull the air through the supercharger. The supercharger is quick and easy to remove. If the supercharger is removed, the car will run like stock. The car will also run basically like stock if just that air tubing between the supercharger and MAF is removed and an air filter placed on ahead of the MAF.

The supercharger is easy to install and remove. A Murf stage-1 kit can be installed in an afternoon. If you're just temporarily removing it, it takes even less time for that because things like the fans and crankshaft pulley could be left on the car. A stage-3 installation takes longer, but even one of those has been installed in one day, and removing it temporarily would also be faster than installing it was.

I don't know what the current laws or taxes in Austria are, but the Albrex superchargers that were installed on some 928s were produced in Austria. They were expensive from what I had heard though.

The single disk clutches on the later cars work fine with the stage-1 kits. With wider, stickier tires, the stage-3 kits make more power than the stock single disk clutches in the later cars seem to like. There are higher performance single disk clutches that will hold the higher power of the stage-3 kits, and that are a direct bolt in replacement for the stock single disk clutches.

The current price for the Murf stage-1 kit is $4,995 and for a stage-3 kit it's $7,995. Both those prices are for kits for the later model cars. With the current value of the Euro to the US Dollar, the kits are cheaper now for European customers than they were not too long ago.

Yes, Thats our Stage I offering for the 32v 928, and we have our Stage II product here:
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/32v_stage2.php

This post was created when I was a dealer for Tim's 32v kits. In about 2008 we went our separate ways, and now you have the opportunity to choose from either of us for your late-model 928.

As to the clutch question: We have found that the stock 1987-1995 clutch handles the Stage 1 kit well with no problems. It also handles most Stage II kits depending on the driver.

But should you have an issue - we are preparred with 3 levels of clutch upgrades for your 32v 928:

Can you please explain the differences between your system and Tims and why we should buy your kit? Would your intercooler work with an 85-86 murph kit?
