Default wheel sizes

I am seeing a number of wheel sets on ebay at not bad prices. So I am now considering upgrading from my D90's. Currently I am running 16X8 with 52 mm offset at ll 4 corners. The tires are 245/45-16 at all four corners. What has attracted my attention are sets of 18 inch rims, 8" 50mm offset front and 10" 65mm offset in the rear. I am not worried about the fit of the fronts as my current rim is 8" wide and the 245/45-16 tires are actually wider than the 225's that would go in the front. The loss of contact patch in front does concern me however. The rear is my big concern, will they fit, will i need spacers to keep from rubbing the rim on the suspension? What tire size are people running, 285/30? 265/35?

Thoughts anyone

someone recommended 55mm offset as the minumum for the front, i'm sure it varies with wheel width, but the wider the wheel, the greater the offset i would think. i tried to put some 52.3mm offset 7x16 phonies from a former 944 turbo on the front and it looked to me if i hit a big bump that the tire would hit the fender. i decided not to use them and hold out for 65mm fronts.

i would be more concerned with the fronts fitting then the rears. i think the rear will fit ok without a spacer.

The fronts will work no problem, but a 245 tire would put it outside the .86 aspect ratio of the tire/rim. The 65mm 10" rear will fit, but it will require a spacer. Assuming you have a GT or S4 up to 285/30's in the rear should fit...more if you roll the fenders! but a 265/35 would also work and maintain the 25" tire height. I have seen several 928's (S4 or GT) that have these offset wheels (996 lightweights)...look really sharp too!
