Hey guys.....I'm new here so I first want to say that hello to everyone and it's good to be a part of this community. I've recently purchased a chiffon white 83' 928S 5 speed and I want to bring the paint back to life as much as possible. I've searched some, but I can't find much on this topic. I have a polisher and I want to know what I should use on the paint to at least bring it back to where it looks a little better until I get her painted later on. Should I start with cleaner wax and then use Meguiars Gold Class? It hasn't been waxed in a very long time and needs help. Any suggestions would be great and I'm sorry to bug you guys as I'm sure this has already been covered, but I'm half asleep from working all night and I'm too tired to keep looking. Thanks very much!!

THere have been some detailed write-ups posted to the email list. You might want to see if you can go to that section of the site and searching the archives. I'd like to be more help, but it isn't my area of expertise. Sounds like a clay bar might be the ticket for you, but I've been too chicken to use one.

Wax doesn't improve the finish, it only protects it. What you need is a polish, or maybe even rubbing compound if it's really bad. Start with a clay bar and then a polish and see if that does it before going to something harsher. When you're all done, then apply wax.

Mirror glaze is a fine polish that works well with a buffer. 3M imperial is also highly reccomended. Both would work well with Medallion. I would rather tell you to start with something fine then reccomend a high abrasive. One square foot at a time, stay away from the edges.

The key to bringing back old faded paint:
Step 1) Get it buffed out with compound by a professional detailer
Step 2) Get it waxed and sealed by the same guy
Step 3) Hand him $200 bucks
Step 4) Enjoy the "new" shiny paint on your shark.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Step 5) Do steps 1-3 yourself, and use the $200 for an RMB.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My detailer tells me the key to getting lasting shine on old paint is sealing it after the 'cutting'/buffing process with a top quality wax.
