Will this fit my 86.5? I think it will on the forward end but what about the rear section of pipes?

"test pipe", cat-less front pipe from one of the big 3.

That will work on your 86.5, Darien. I used one for about a year. I "felt" like I lost a little low end torque but "felt" like I had more get up and go at speed.
If you use this with an RMB it will be LOUD. I tried it and it was the proverbial "opening the gates of Hell". But some like it.
Search the list for "test pipes" or "cat bypass". To get specific info on performance gains.

I used mine with the stock rear muffler. It sounded good, but not as good as just leaving the cats and adding the RMB. It gives a raspy sort of noise.

Darien, thats the exact pipe i have and that you were asking about. If you dont like the sound, ill send you the pics of the glass pack set up i welded in. Takes the edge of the rawness at cruise and WOT but still flows well.

Not exactly what I paid The seller wanted his buy-it-now price to last longer than the first bid. I still think it was a good price.

We have this pipe and an rmb on our 87, and it does'nt sound raspy at all to us In fact my nephew who builds muscle cars calls it " uncle Kevin's pro-street Porsche". It is loud, but really only above 4000.

If I want to install after market mufflers, what size do I look for. Is the stock size pipes 2.5"??

I'm running a 928Specs test pipe with 3" straight pipe and a 14.5x3" Borla XR-1 offroad muffler.

People ask me how i fit a big block Chevy into a Porsche at least 1x a week.

LOL...

On my '89, I had cats and the RMB: I found this combination very intrusive and tiring at sustained speeds. On my present car, I have the test-pipes, feeding into a GT muffler. This is an excellent compromise. It doesn't attract unwelcome attention at city speeds, but makes a really impressive guttural roar at half- to full-throttle.

Sure do, here ya go:

Up front you can see the 928specs test pipe feeding into the 14.5x3" Borla XR-1, fed into a custom made 3" single exhaust.

Total system weight is 22lbs total, about 70lbs lighter than stock, and MUCH more free-flowing!!!

It also sounds like about 150db of pure evil.

PS: I also have the 85 Exhaust manifolds installed.
