Hi guys

can the piston spray holes in the bottom of the bores be added to a block without them???

I have been asked the same question before and I must say it doesn't look easy to do. I have a squirter block and I was thinking of making some type of jig that would track the trajectory of the recess that holds the squirter. I can't see any other way. I you had a squirter block then it wouldn't be so hard to copy it to another block.

Cheers Greg

I remember Kelly Moss offering to add squirters to my 944S so I'm sure its possible for the right $$$

We add them to 951's all the time. We have done several on 928's as well.

The squirters themselves run about $20 apiece depending upon the model you use.

Thanks,

Garrity

Factory version seems to have larger hole drilled from main bearing journal that is not all the way through to cylinder side. Last few mm's hole is much smaller. Haven't looked system closely enough to be able to say which part of hole squirter itself attaches to.

If it's attached to small one, I think only this small hole needs to point in right direction. Then it's enough for larger hole to be in correct area so that small can be drilled in right place. Maybe small hole could be drilled from deck side with long drill bit. This would allow it to be aimed right just by positioning drill correctly at top of cylinders.

What is squirter part number by the way? Only thing I found from PET that might be it is 911 101 011 01 Splash Valve. Garrity, what options you have available and are they easier to retrofit than factory version? Although I've been thinking about deleting them from S4 block if it's one that is going to be base for stroker motor. Since some other block is eventually going to be used in SC setup in one local S4 I'm interested what options there are to add them into few other block I have.

I use a 993 squirter. They are difficult to put in, no doubt about it and angle is critical. If you have an S4 block, why delete them. You can't reuse them because they get damaged upon removal. I like them because they bleed off a little of the oil that would otherwise be built up pressure. They definitely cool the piston as well.

Good luck.

Reason to delete is wish to minimize amount of oil rotating with crank shaft. They have to increase it significantly. Piston cooling would be good though.

These are closest pics I have of them in the block.

PET lists several different versions for 911, 964 and 993. Is there difference on what pressure they open or is it just shape of the part that changes?
