If your GT still has the 5.0L engine, you don't really need the GTS box for strength. There are a lot of 5 spd owners with stroker or supercharged engines that would love to have an opportunity to graft in the GTS 5 spd (and do whatever it takes) because they really do need the extra strength. If you do try to use the GTS box, I'd recommend using a simpler oil cooler arrangement such as what Don Hanson described. It would be a lot easier and less expensive that attempting to use all the GTS tranny cooler lines and front mounted oil cooler. As Sterling mentioned, you'd need a different A/C condenser.

AFAIK '87+ automatics have larger center tunnel than all manual gearbox cars to accomodate larger torque converter first indroduced in S4. Entire body is different and also rear seats were changed to make more room at the back. Up to '86 MY body was same. This is also reason why on automatic to manual conversion late cars need mounting point added for clutch master cylinder. Also when mounting S4 or GTS automatic box to older body area above torque converten needs to be modified to make it fit.
