Default GTS engine power

Just put my newly built GTS automatic up on the dyno. Or rather, it was the Swedish supposedly very accurate Rototest system. The engine is standard GTS, but with mildly ported heads. What I got was 302 rwhp and 425 NM.
Does anyone have an accurate idea as to how much that would translate into at the flywheel?

Standard measurement for drivetrain loss is 15% for manual, 20% for autobox. I have heard or read that the MB tranny in the 928 with the direct 1:1 final drive is more efficient than many autoboxes, so you may want to us 18% drivetrain loss. Doesn't really matter what you use since it is the power to the wheels that count.

For fun, though, you would be at about 377 crank hp assuming 20% loss or 368 crank hp assuming 18% loss.

Either way, NICE!

Thanks Cameron. That's what I thought and that's what was expected. If you carefully assemble the engine, replacing with new parts where needed, using all the know how (incl GTS piston modification), port the heads and the dyno shows 302 rwhp I suppose it's safe to assume all has been done correctly. And that's just great.
I've heard that 280 rwhp is expected from stock GTS automatic, is that correct? Anyone?

My pre supercharged unmodifed GTS Auto got exactly 302 RWHP as well.
I believe it was on a Dyno jet.

Dyno'd higher than most. Rarely do they go over 300 rwhp, corrected.

Most range form 280 - 295 rwhp, depending on auto vs manual.

Enjoy the power!

Marc, you might have heard the story from Anders, but this is the engine with "your" block+modified pistons! 302 rwhp is a great start, let's see if I can get it up to 320 rwhp by using your new 1 3/4" headers, RMB and a new chip...
Should get some extra ponies anyway!

Ola, you better hurry up and order those headers!

I will get you the paperwork you requested today!

Btw, I drove Olas GTS from Stockholm to Malmö when I was in Sweden last week. A nice 4 hour trip with a +100 mph average. Unfortunately Ola didn't let me drive faster than 255 km/h..

You're right Anders. But I can't make up my mind about which ones to go for! Shed some light please...

I'll chime in here - 1 3/4" headers seem to work best for any engine over 5.0 liters, so you should probably go for the larger size. Let us know I'm working on finalizing the batch order today & tomorrow.

Thanks!
