my 1986.5 928 s automatic has a surging and erratic idle problem while idleing in any gear selection except nutral.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreated.

 

after the engine is at operating temp. the surging and stalling problem stops and car runs smooth.

 

Wait until dark, then open your hood. Start the 928 then look at engine to see if you can see any fireflies from around the distributors or the plug wires. I found this condition to be simular to mine. I replaced the wires and no more idle issues ....Good-luck
