I'm interested in replacing the original Boge shocks in the front of my 84 US. I think I'm going to put Boges back in (maybe gas filled) to retain stock, comfortable, street ride.
My question is this: After reading about guys who pull their fr. shocks and springs in one piece by using a spring compressor in place to shorten the unit and pull it without dropping any control arms; can I compress the spring in place until it comes off the bottom perch, then loosen the top center and lower cross bolt on the shock and wiggle it out also without dropping any control arms, etc? I'm would keep the same springs(in place even). Seemss like it should work and save a lot of trouble.
Thanks,
Dave Mc.
