Just a WAG - Check the "properties" and make sure the file is not "read only". Uncheck "read only" if it is.

Also PET requires that you have a display capable (and set at) 1280x1024.

I had trouble installing it also. I don't remember the error message I was getting, but whenever I installed it to run from the CD it wouldn't work. After I did a complete install to run from the HD it worked fine. (After I changed the resolution, as has been mentioned)
YMMV.

HK,
I haven't seen that particular message but you might try a newer version of PET6 and see if you get the same error. The easiest solution is to get the pdf version of the PET, I think both 928 Specialists and 928 Intl sell it for around $13 or you can get it from your local Porsche dealer...much more robust.

The file type (.OLD) you list : D:PORSCHEPET\PET_PROG.NT4\WORKTOOL.OLD is not a valid executable file. Has this install ever worked for you? There is probably a way around this, but i would need to see the contents of the CD to figure it out for you.

Default cd content

I could upload the cd to an ftp site I can set up. But if I can get one for 13 bucks is it worth yr trouble. I got it as part of the Paul lacey DVD on 928 stuff, do you know it?
