Some week's ago there was a tire pressure discussion.
Saw this in local motormagazine. Guess most is basic but anyway....
If you want .........................more grip..................less grip
Tirepressure
street tires .........................more psi....................less psi
race/slicks..........................less psi......................more psi
tires and rims
rim's ................................wider......................... smaller
tire's.................................wider......................... smaller
profil.................................lower......................... higher
compound..........................softer........................ harder
Setup
springs............................. softer......................... harder
shock's............................. softer......................... harder
suspens..stabilizer............. softer......................... harder
camber angel....................more negativ................more pos
front wheel direction..........not spreding.................more spreding

For the street it's always going to be a middle of the road setting..............temperature has a dramatic effect on pressure and hence grip. Low pressure will rise greater in high temps and vise versa with intial high pressure......which also effects ride height. Road conditions will determine Spring/shock settings, too soft will wallow at high speed, too hard and you get bounced off the road.
Personally, I set tyre pressures much lower than what Porsche recommends believing the advancement in construction and rubber quality is far superior than what it was 17 years ago; 32psi front and 36 psi rear. Grip is very good for very spirited driving and so far the rears are lasting a little longer that the previous set; same tyres, same size but Porsche recommended pressures.

Also, after a certain amount of pressure increase, street tires start to lose traction again. So overinflating the rear tires would start to eliminate understeer, just as underinflating them would. Overinflating is considered more predictable, and I often wondered if this is why Porsche reccomends such high rear tire pressures on the 928 and 944.
