Clarkson does like 928s - If you can get hold of "Clarksons hot metal" 2004 edition DVD Clarkson test drives the '95 GTS manual that recieved the last new factory GTS engine (The car sadly is no more following a failed fuel line causing a catastrophic petrol fire), and says very little negative. He follows by driving the Cayenne and demonstrates that it is pretty crap offroad by driving the same course in a 1960 Landrover.
Richard Hammond (The short presenter) who bought the 924 in the Top Gear "Porsche for £1500" challenge does actually own a '79 ish 928 previously owned by Bill Robertson of 928UK list fame.
Forgot the exact line, but while driving he says "except for some electrical problems, like air cond, window lifts, radio, dash lights, door locks, and rattles off a a few more of the 928's electrical gremlins.
Was funny as hell. It could have been me talking about mine when I first got it.
For those of you that missed it.
The 928 had major water leaks. What they put in came right out the bottom.
Gas leaks. Fuel was just running out of the tank. He got 7 MPG.
It smoked like crazy. Blue smoke. Diagnosed as a broken picton ring.
The paint was beyond help
An earlier episode they did 100 pound beaters, which ended up being a Mitsu Starion, A mid 80's Jag XKE, and an Volvo 7xx of some sort. Again, Hilarious.
Classic - Clarkson begins expounding on the 928 saying "...I've always loved the ...(928)" but is then interupted mid-sentence as steam begins billowing out from under the bonnet.
I saw it last night. I was so excited to see an episode about the 928. While watching it my wife was giving me a hard time about my car. It was funny and sad all at the same time. What an emotional roller coaster.
But hey, now I know what do do with my old seats.
I haven't seen it yet, but if it's that sad, there's nothing to keep us from sending comments to Top Gear. A few of you who are close to their studios could offer a test ride to open his eyes!

I think they're showing a pretty realistic scenario of what happens when you buy a $3000 928 without a PPI.
Is that what they mean by " reality TV " ? I think they overcooked the engine running without coolant relaxed the ring tension to the point it had little compression ,it barely started for the track event...then commented on all the smoke.
