Oil Inlet "O"-ring
And another; when I removed the oil filler neck, there was a "plate" kind of a seal... A narrow aluminum outer ''ring", with what I think was an "o"-ring next, then a kind of a baffle plate, again made of aluminum.
Was this the correct assembly? There is no "o"-ring groove, just a flat surface on the block and neck.
Do I place the new "o"-ring back between these two aluminum parts?
If it matters, my block is an early '87....

If you want to pay big bucks ($250) you can order the "Modified" oil fill neck with the o-ring groove in it. The aluminum plate with baffle and rubber ring is no longer available. Most people use gasket sealer on the old one. Good luck.

There is an O ring grove on mine, and the rectangular seal is still easily available here. Block surface is flat, glove is in the plastic filler base, can't remember how the baffle fits in.

I used the "new and improved" gasket instead of my old metal ring. My oil filler neck is now leaking and I have to pull the intake off again. I'm going back to the metal ring and using Yamabond sealant. The gasket is worthless...it doesn't even fit well.

Just two and a half years after being replaced, it's leaking again! Perhaps the base of the filler neck is warped - perhaps that's why they changed from plastic to metal...
Can it be replaced by just removing the coolant bridge, or does the plenum get in the way?

Call devek,
I bought a aluminum plate with baffle.. looks like the original but with no stuck on rubber seal...
I used yamabond and I have no leaks... 1 year later...
But with the stock plate I tried twice and have an oil leak in the valley... Also If you painted or coated the neck... strip all paint from the sealing surface as well as the area where the M6 bolts and washers go... this compressed a bit when the engine heated up and caused a recurring leak...

This stinks. Just tried to put a new rubber gasket on the fill neck of an '86 and the metal pieces fell away from the rubber...Now I have the baffel, the ring, and no way to put the rubber seal on there..... Dangit. Looks like I have to go with the paper and some high temp RTV.

I managed to replace the o ring with the plenum in place. Lots of wiggling, but possible.
