Question Dash Protectant

Hi to all, and before I get started let me say this is THE most helpful and active listserves I've used. I have an Audi A8 and that site is LOW on enthusiasm, high on moanining about Audi North America (justified) with most posts dealing with mutual head scratching on why the "check engine" light is on THIS TIME with 3-400 possibilities.....but I digress.........

I have recently aquired a 1991 S4 in beautiful condition with a perfect dash and had shipped from CA to sweltering Charleston, SC. Having owned 928s before I'm well aware of their propensity for cracking/warping. Beyond obvious physical barriers like covered parking and windshield sun screens, are any of the "Armour-All" type products more highly recommended, and do any really provide much proven protection/preservation for vinyl dashes?

Thanks

John

I use Armor-All on my dash pod. My dashboard is leather, so I use leather protectant on that portion.

-Armor-All is a controversial substance; the problem with this is that if you use it...you better KEEP on using it. Otherwise, the alcohol in this stuff will dry your vinyl even faster than the sun. Use it on a regular basis, and you will note that your dash won't age at all.

If I had a vinyl dash...trust me: It would be screaming slick with Armor-All right now. Welcome aboard, and good luck!

you may also consider getting one of the carpet type covers and keeping it in the car for when you must leave it exposed... all the chemicals in the world can't truly protect it for an extended time
