Default Valve lifters 16 valve engine

Hi to all, has anybody ever tried to recond the bases of these lifters? They are extremely expensive to buy new ones but I certainly don't want to damage my new cams. I was going to have the bases DLC coated but I don't think my used ones are good enough. Any input appreciated.

They usually spin around so if ther is any wear it whould be uniform. I didn't notice any wear on the my '85s (32V) lifters.

Yes you would think so, they have some deep pits and what appears to be corrosion. This engine sat around for quite a while, if I could get them ground and polished, I could then get the DLC coating, problem would be solved.

I was just quoted $4 per lifter to regrind the surface, they say as long as we don't go through, it will be fine. I have one bad lifter, so it will be a sacrifice to see how thick the hard layer is.
