Default Funny story time.

Over the weekend here I was talking with my cousin. He had a shirt from work on. I asked if he still worked for Gary, he said no but he did hang out with him here and there. I then told him that's who I got my 928 from. He said no ****, did Gary tell you that car was his pride and joy, and he never let his wife even sit in it. I laughed, no wonder the passenger seat looks so nice. I guess they wer eout on e time and Gary was a bit to drunk to drive and threw him the keys. He said he had one hell of a time driving it to the next bar.

Pretty funny. I told him I found a Maglite, hotel key, one cigarette, and a Zippo under the seat, and he said, yep, that's Garys car.

Pretty good story. How 'bout PO's on your cars? He bought it at 8,000 miles, must've been a dealer lot car before that.

1. S4 5spd: PO was a kid from CA; lived and worked in Albuquerque NM, left the car out in the desert sun every day. Owned a 911SC also that he was race-prepping ..... very young guy, under 25. Originally my car was in the 928 Intl catalog years ago, I don't know whose she was then, but East-coast (Florida, before that NY).

2. '85 S auto: First owner was a software billionair, had a huge collection, drove the car under 500 miles in 5 years. Second owner is a software billionair, drove her like my gramma would drive a Buick, only to work and back, every day for 13 years. Smoked like a chimney. Car had never been washed or cleaned inside, and the floor mats were still tucked-under the panels (never been removed). Everything is factory fresh about this car. Took a hit on the driver's front fender and sold it to me for little. I replaced the fender, front bumper support and corner lights and she's like new. Bought at 81k, now has 88k. I drive her a lot. He now drives a Jag (aka Ford Taurus).

3. '85 euro auto: PO was a local good guy. Loved the car, drove her a lot. Had the tbelt job done while a broken cam was being repaired. They installed an S4 tensioner brand new, which ate the belt. Belt looks like a rat's nest BUT continued to run and turn the valvetrain, despite running on a now-seized water pump (result of FULL tension they had applied to tensioner to get it tight) ... tensioner pushrod was at a 45deg angle on the roller arm. Incredible this car survived. Sold it to me as dead. Not dead. Replaced everything with S4 components, life is good.

4. '86 5spd: Not much to say, PO was 6'4 jail guard, maybe 300lbs of muscle. Broke both door handles and crawled in through hatch. I had to replace the hatch seal. Car sat in Nicole's town for maybe a year, Chris Ford put me onto it, I got her cheaply, drove her to Seattle with John D, after having wonderful help from Nicole, Bill, Da Skin, Richard, Jorj, and even offers from Marc to help. Parked her here, never have got her to start again, 4-cyl mode now. ...... project for another day.

5. 1981 911SC: PO was a software developer from CA, had left her sitting outside in a storage yard for over a year. targa. Lots of leaking in and out. Took a bit of refreshing, but she's been a GREAT runner and I love the top. So does my 7yo daughter. PO had had tranny and engine rebuilt properly, and I am reaping the benefits. Sold her to me cheaply.

6, 7, 8 were 928's, long story.
9, 10 were 944's ... wonderful cars, but once I had tasted 928 ... I didn't need the 944's anymore.
11: 952. Gave her back promptly upon finding out she had been destroyed and welded up again.

My car has only one PO. Guy bought it new in Trenton, NJ. His name was Guido Salvatore. I am not kidding. I tried to look him up to ask him about the car. Couldn't find him to save my life. Finally googled his name. Found only one reference: a Catholic church parish website listing his obituary. Guess that's why the mileage was pretty low when I bought the car.

Guido Salvatore? I guess it's hard to drive your shark when you're in lockup. Trenton? The name Guido? Last name Salvatore? Yup... That's probably the reason for the low miles.

Good thing sharks don't have trunks.
