Thumbs up It Lives

My 1985 S fired for the first time (in my brief ownership) over the weekend - great feeling. Thanks for all the advice about engine and electrical system. As many have reported before the relay for the LH unit apparently was the problem. Engine sounds good, drives forward and reverse, stops. Background - 1985, approx. 87,00 miles, automatic, purchased approx. 2 months ago, not running. PO indicated it stopped running while idling. Checked timing belt, visually OK, cam timing was correct, ignition checked out, compression was OK, fuel pump would run with the relay bypassed but engine would not run until LH relay was bypassed. A long way to go to make this the car it deserves to be but it is a lot easier when you know that the engine lives.

Thumbs up

Congrats! Nice to hear a new owner with a success story, rather than problems. Good luck on restoring the rest of your car. A lot easier to do when you can get some driving pleasure out of it along the way.
