I just finish rebuilding my actuators, (green, yellow & orange) on a 90 928. The orange actuator is a pain however with the glovebox and cooling hose, (above glovebox) removed you can assembly the actuator and pull a vacuum on it to align the clip and rod. Look through the hole with a mirror and stick your middle finger in and push the clip onto the rod. My fingers where a little short so I made a push tool out off a 3/8" steel rod and drilled a hole in the end to locate the clip/rod and gave it a push.

Good luck.

I remember you mentioning that the black line on your car would only hold 3in of vaccuum? Oddly enough (once repaired) the black line on my car will only hold 4 in of vaccum (with the car off)...anything more quickly bleeds off...so I guess this is normal?

Brian,
Thanks for your help and I did have two actuators that would slowly leak. Once I waited a while I noticed it leaked. I have now replaced three off them so I don't have to go there again.

That must have taken a while....after looking at everything you have to remove to replace the center & recirc actuator...I am not looking forward to it!

After driving on the freeway yesterday in 95+ heat...the A/C works really well now....I get much better airflow since the defrost is closed & the air temps are almost too cold...I either had to turn off the compressor or start turning the temp slider down to 70 or 75!!! Its a nice problem to have!
