I read a ton of suspension related posts yesterday. Seems like the Eibach/Bilstein combo would be to stiff for me for street use. Many like the Eibach/Stock black Boge combo.

Then you have the Koni crew with stock springs, which by the way seemed like a really good combo to me when I took John's such equipped 84 Euro out for a short drive last summer.

So here's the deal. I have access to cheap Weltmeister springs. From what I could gather, I think they are a 400lbs/inch linear spring. But I'm still not sure. And I can't afford to do both front and back right now. So here's my options:

1. Stock springs with Koni reds
2. Weltmeister springs with Koni Reds
3. Just change out the springs for now and leave my stock boges.

My car has about 90K on the clock. The original shocks don't feel all that terrible to me. The car soaks up the bumps pretty well and doesn't buck up and down at all. It turns pretty well, but does have some lean which isn't necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. I was on John's tail (literally at one point) for much of the trip to, during, and from SITM 2007 and never felt like I was pushing the car to its adhesion limit. Hell, maybe I shouldn't do anything.

Dazed and Confused. Duuuuude.

Leave it the way it is. Stock suspension like most other aspects of any car is a compromise. Comfort ,ride , ground clearance, smooth road ,rough road, firmness, body roll , all have compromises. So if you like it now why mess with it ? Personally I like a really firm ride...even my Wife's Grand Cherokee has Bilstien shocks and Eibach lowering springs , 18 inch rims . I just got an 02 Passat Turbo and the soft big car ride is making me crazy ... Just for the record Koni shocks for the 928 are "old school" a very dated design and the none adjustable compression rate tends to make a harsh none compliant ride. Which is why we do not sell them any more ...too many customer complaints.

That's one vote for leave it.

John says he can have the front spring/shock apart and off the car in 37 minutes a side. If John will help me out, I thought I would pull up a lawn chair and a beer and watch him put them on, and then take them back off if I didn't like it.

Mike,
your confused, I was doing most of the work, thats how we can do it in 37 minutes per side, not just him, besides we perfected the 37 minute job on my car,LOL, good times, ahhhhh. NOT!

Oh wait, yes it is just John doing it in 37 minutes, thats right, I remember now.
