Default Shifter Won't Go Into 3RD or 2ND

I just had my console switches replaced and tonight I try to pull the shifter back into 3 and its like there's something there blocking it. I can pull with some force but I'm afraid I'll break something or jam it in 3RD.
Before I call and complain, any ideas of whats going on?

Jason, take it back to whoever did the switches!

I don't know what to call them, but on the back of the shifter plate there one or two pieces of metal (brackets) that have gotten out of place.

I think Porsche was going to use these for a Park lock, but never did?

I've got a similar problem. I have not been able to shift down into 2nd gear. It is about 1 millimeter from engaging. It's one of those annoying things I need to fix one of these days.

My mechanic says the new console switches from Porsche were wired backwards (which I verified with dave from 928 specialists) so he had to switch the wires and because of this the connectors are in front of the switches not behind as they should be (underneath the console) he going to have to modify the location some how.
Anyone else with new switches not installed yet, needs to know that they too may have reversed wiring and modification will have to be done.

I had my evaporator replaced & when the shop r & r'd my console they had my console switch wiring routed incorrectly so when I tried to use 2nd or 3rd gear the shifter slide panel would hit the wires & could not be pulled back far enough. I took it back & complained & they said I must have a problem with my shifter. I took it apart myself & discovered the wiring mess. Cleared the wiring & it was good to go.
I just replaced my switches & had to rearrange the wires in the connector housing otherwise the up - down is reversed.

Yes thats the same problem I had with the wires being in the way, today the problem was fixed and the shifter works properly.
Porsche shipped alot of switches which are wired incorrectly, the big three need to know.
928 Specialists are aware the others I don't know for sure.
