Default clutch success!

hi

my 5-speed has always been somewhat hard to shift, and (consequently I suspect) had bad synchros. I had the synchros replaced along with bearings etc. last winter.

The shifting changed from hard, sticky and grinding, to just hard and sticky.

Well this weekend I adjusted the clutch according to Nochols tips, and what a change!

The gear stick now moves freely in and out of gears, and it feels like a totally different car to drive.

I'm pretty sure the synchros wore out because of this.

To all of you double discers: pop the lid off and move that intermediate plate, you will be rewarded!

The pilot bearing can become very sticky before it becomes noisy. Replacing the pilot bearing on my single disc clutch had a similarly rewarding effect.

Good to see it's sorted. Hope it stays that way. When parts are too worn intermediate plate will not hold adjustment any more and clutch gets back to bad after just one push of lever.
