Default MY85 Fuel Injectors

Are the injectors on MY85 different from the later years? Are the Summit injectors for the 5.0L Mustang compatible? Would the 24# injectors be the correct injectors to use as replacments?

Thanks,
Glen

Heinrich,
Yes they are different or yes the Summit 24# injectors will work?

Hi Glen,

They look almost identicle but a nice rennlister mentioned that he remembered something about them having different o rings.

I had installed them (in my 86.0) as well as a bunch of other stuff and am having some issues getting her to run properly. I read the older strings on it and sure enought they are different... (search forums "ford injector seals") it also makes sense that they would not be metric... but the injectors are standard bosch 24 lbs.

85 and 86 use a 24lbs... then they switched to 19 lbs for 87 on... not sure if later then that they changed again....

my car ran, but pretty poorly and the symptoms seemed to be that of a confused AFC system... So I pulled the injectors last night ... they are visibly smaller than the bosch oem for porsche ones I bought...

Devek can sell them to you... $45 for 8 seal sets...

I will post if that was my problem

Oh yeah and at $220 for the injectors plus $45 for seals..

If I can get them to work that is a pretty good deal...

LO,

Thanks for the feedback. Please let me know how they work out with the new seals. It is almost the same cost as getting the old ones cleaned and calibrated.

They work just fine in my 5sp. Never had any issues with them, I just bought o-rings from 928 Intl and installed them.
