Can I swap the 4 sp auto box from an 84 into my 81' 3 sp. Actually I want to install the 3sp in place of my 4sp. I love everything about my 84 except for the way the trans feels when it shifts. It just doesn'f feel "right" to me. On the other hand I really like the feel of the 3sp in my 81'. Would this just be a matter of pulling the trannys out and switching them?

You need to swap at least torque tube too as they should be different lengths. 4sp has shorter tube to compensate longer gearbox.
