Tube in the side of oil filler neck...should it be a loose fit?
Is it supposed to slip in and out of the side of the oil filler neck? If it's supposed to be tight, what holds it in there?
The hose is clamped on nice and tight, but the plastic tube on the end of the hose just sits there pretty loose.
Thanks for the info!

It shouldn't be loose enough to leak air, as it is part of the PCV system........how is your idle?

Idle is pretty good, around 600rpm, but occasionally it will get jumpy. Maybe once every 2-3 days it will do the up and down idle thing. I was wondering because it's attached to the vacuum below it.
What can I do to seal it up and it still be removable?

I know this is an old thread, but upon doing some cleaning tonight, I noticed the same thing. I can pull thehard plastic fitting right out of the oil filler with very little effort. Is this normal? Or could you fir a rubber o ring around it to snug it up. I also noticed a bit of oil puddled below in a block recess. I think this may be the cause.

get some acetone and a Q tip clean the oil filler tube and then the small plastic insert, scuff the insert with some grit paper and then JB weld it to the oil filler tube if you do this after the engine is warm then the JB will set up faster, remove the cap to let out any water vapor
