First off..... GREAT idea guys!!!!!
Couple of thoughts though.....
Location: Are you sure that Mount Hood is the best location for a huge 928 turn out? It is far drive for anyone North of Seattle. I have always thought that Leavenworth would make a great place for a Porsche get together (http://www.leavenworth.org).
Date: Devek days is the first weekend in August.

My personal take is that it might be better to do this half way between DEVEK days and Sharktoberfest. This would give everybody more time to plan, and not pack too much stuff into a short period of time. Remember that some owners have families, businesses, or other commitments...
Can you offer a few alternative dates and do a little survey?

One of the things we took seriously into consideration for Sharktoberfest, was to make sure it was not that close to any other event in the US and to make sure it was far enough in between other events. This was to allow folks to recover mentally and financially from any other event and allocate the time off from their lives and jobs. If you don't consider this, you will miss out on many folks attending. DEVEK Days is in August and I expect with their new facilities, many are planning and will attend as this is a main west coast event at that time of year.
Sharktoberfest got caught being too close to the Frenzy only because we were trying to plan our event for half a year and couldn't get an answer from them when their event was going to happen....we HAD to set a date. The only thing that softens the blow between the two is that they are on opposite coasts.
Based on personal experience, trying to have a huge event in a month or two places the odds of an international type turnout, not in your favor. I need not mention the actual planning and logistics it takes to put one of these sized events on...it will consume your lives.
I am sure what ever you guys do will be sensational...just trying to save you some grief as far as attendence and a serious planning headache.
