Engine paint
Well, getting my parts ready for powder, visiting the local Porsche dealer, to see about getting those spanner nuts off the inside of the valve covers, I got to talking to the mechanic, who is an older fellow.
He told me, when he was taking the class on 928's, that the question was raised about how they got that color. What he said he was told, they painted the mould first, then "blew" in some molten aluminum, which mixed into the paint in the mould. And that is how that sheen and color was produced.
I think I've read somewhere on this list, how people were wondering about how they got that color. I don't believe I've seen this posted before, so I thought I'd report these "facts"....Weather they are, or aren't, I have no first hand knowledge....

It would depend on the paint solids. many paints use titanium , other metals or even stone or ceramic for solids. And since when did being practical ever get in the way of porsche engineers being ''right'' about something?
