The Chateau de Montriou where we stayed at the end of our holiday. Sadly despite the best efforts of it's owners it is falling in to disrepair, however this did not detract from our enjoyment, instead it made me feel lucky that I only had to maintain an 18 year old car, and not a 500 year old chateau.

My car's original owner was Derek Bell, five times winner of the Le Mans 24 Hour race. It felt fitting that I should visit the circuit, even if only to take a couple of photos! I'm hoping that Derek might sign a copy of one of them for me...

Nice Photos. Did you know that French 928 owner's club ie :amicale 928 (www.amicale928.org) is based in Le Mans. I'm sure that our president who owns a 928 S4 CS would have been very pleased to welcome you in his area.
Perhaps, it has been the case?

Sadly I was only in Le Mans long enough to get caught up in the preparations for this years race as we had to get back to Boulogne for the ferry to England. In fact I didn't see another 928 the whole time I was in France, and only one parked S2 on the outskirts of Geneva. I saw one UK owned 911 who acknowledged me as we passed each other on one of the roads in L'Adeche, otherwise the trip was bereft of fellow Porsche owners.

Great pics! We spent 2 years in the Loire, just south of Tours and another period in Auvergne - where the country roads make for fantastic driving: I feel 'homesick' after looking at these .... glad you had a fantastic time

Nice to see some pictures of France with a 928, I spend 5 years in Paris and 20 years in the Massif Central.
Merci

Cool pictures! How is driving on those narrow mountain roads with the steering on the "wrong" side? I'd assume it takes some getting used to, and passing might be difficult - no?

Driving on the "wrong side" was no problem most of the time. The narrow mountain roads were fine, but I was very cautious on right hand bends where my vision was significantly restricted.

However I did make a mistake on one occasion: a car that I was behind (at a respectful distance) slowed and indicated that I could pass, which I started to do without assessing the road properly myself. When a pair of motorbikes appeared in front of me I hit the brakes and flat spotted my tyres. It was more embarrassing than dangerous, but either way I felt very stupid for my mistake.
