From my understanding the gasket was embossed on one side only when it is supposed to be on both sides? I beleive around the fire ring area?
Blownbeast explained it to me and the guys at Cometic apparantly know about it from what ive heared.

thx tony! think that's pretty much what they said today, along w/"just send it in and we'll give you another set"... but like dave said - if it was just a YZ250, it'd be done already... since it's just NA, nobody seemed to be concerned about the embossing issue even at 11.3:1 compression... you boost guys might have a different perspective on that one, perhaps...

good news is that all the rivits are clear and it's really trending down fast, so it's got to be a gasket thing, as block and deck were resurfaced and checked, xchecked, checked again - no sandpaper resurfacing w/a six pack like I'd do if left alone too long... of course, dr. greg is not known for letting ANYTHING slip by anyway, so it's got to be an internal gasket issue as I'm pretty confident everything else is 100% (especially since I was never left alone w/the motor or tools at any time whatsoever)...

thx for the info on the other cometics that have leaked initially - no fluid contamination or weird compression issues is a MAJOR relief - thx guys!!! mine seems consistant w/that too... odd it's apparently always on the outside edges like dave noted and like mine is doing... my pool filter does that too, but it's made in mexico... I've also seen it on other motors, but it's usually just a minor weeping, not a gusher...

maybe lags michigan weather is at least good for cometics or did you pay them in whale oil, or warm women, mosiquito repellent?? was it below zero then or were you were building them in an igloo?? just kidding... ha! whatever your guys are doing, I'm sure cometic and others would like to know (as it pertains to the gaskets, you can tell us about the whale oil and women thing though) HA!

meantime, I guess it's full speed ahead (kinda like the titanic)... if the trend continues and it magically goes away - I'll be amazed and ever so grateful to the shark gods for sure... maybe she just needs a 200mph "italian tune up" to get'er in shape/really seat the gaskets... hehehehe....

still gotta add some pipe from the xpipe/cat section back, fix a wire or two, minor tuning stuff, re-smog, put back the interior/clean her up... should have an hour or four on it by then and will be able to better re-assess... still a bit early for the APB on the CHP airwaves, but they might think about scheduling a tatical alert - ha!! guess we'll put those funny looking tools away gretch (at least for now)!!

I'll update ya'll either way...

thx again!
