You can get the Testors translucent paints in bottles and you can thin them down for use in an airbrush. One other color people might be interested in is Smoke. You can slightly darken your lenses with it which looks really good on dark cars, yet it barely dims the lights when they're on.
Rear turnsignals have to be amber OR red. Front turnsignals and side markers have to be amber. White for those is against federal law and blue is against most if not all state laws. In Maryland and Virginia (and probably most others) having any blue light on or visible in your car is considered impersonating a police officer. I know people who have received tickets for it in both states.

With regard to removing the rear wiper, Jim Mayzurk had done that on his GTS as well as paint the tail lights red - as Tony has done. At SITM, I marveled at a lot of his modifications, including THREE 2 1/8 inch gauges in the ash tray holder spot!!! For the rear wiper delete, he removed the mechanism, as well as the arm. Bought a variety of small aluminum "plugs" at home depot, brought them home, picked the two correct ones, then broke off two prongs (180 degrees apart) on both, made a wooden buck the same shape as the hatch where the shafts protruded, then using a hammer/chisel, shaped the aluminum plugs to fit the hatch. Painted them polar silver, and it is a really clean look. Just got back from a bit of driving at Watkins Glen track, but both the red turn signals on the tail lights, and deletion of the wiper are on my near term "list".

Looks great Tony! I think I need to go on record in the future for some of my innovations , seems they always pop up on someone elses car a month or two later. No worries, that tells me the ideas aren't half baked. FWIW, on the rear wiper delete on the GTS, I just used rubber caps used for large vacuum lines over the studs. You can get them at NAPA and cut them down. On the 82, I just had the holes welded up.
I tried the testors Candy Apple originally before the window tint, but it came out a bit too dark. I may just try it again though.
Color key the wing and the bumperettes, then you'll be stylin!

My mirrors will be done on thursday, if they turn out well, the wing will be next as well as the bumper pads. The guy at the paint shop suggested that i try mixing the silver paint on my car to a darker shade and do the pads that color. He said it wont be near the contrast as the black, yet wont all blend in. Im still leaning to the way you did it keith. Looks sharp. I may get anotehr set of used pads to see how a darker shade of silver looks.?

You can save yourself a little bit of money by preping the bumperettes yourself. You will need/want to sand them down flat and take all of the texture off of them. This is no easy task since your are sanding a rubber compound, but the results are well worth it. Toughest part is in the inside corners. Ask your paint shop about this and what grade of paper to use as I forget.
If you have the rubber wing, thats gonna take some prep too. I think lot's of guys just put a filler over it, but I don't think that is the correct route to take.
Your car is going to look bitchin when it's done!
Are you going to Tahoe this weekend???

Well Tony, Gary Knox et all, thanks for the praise, but Keith was the originator of the idea. I e-mailed him and found out about the red window tint, but he warned me that he really hadn't determined if it was going to last. The Candy Apple Red is enamel, the same type of paint used for years on older cars, so I knew it would last on the lenses. I just wax my lenses when I wax the car. They are now about 4 months old and show no signs of deterioration, flaking or loss of color. Our Texas sun gets pretty hot so the summer will be the real test.
Gary Knox described my procedure for the rear wiper delete plugs perfectly. The wooden buck was just a piece of pine with a groove cut in it to approximate the angle of the rear hatch where the studs protrude. I used a wide chisel to deform the plug, but you could use a putty knife or gasket scraper to do the same thing. It just needs to be wider than the plug.
