Thumbs up Fuel gauge wars-sorta....

Found someone who'll do me a favor, and it's passable on to the Rennlist!

First off, a word of THANKS, to Brad Smith, who turned me onto this man's business!

Everyone had talked about how hard it was to find a correct fitting, for the end of the fuel rail, and which type of fuel gauge set-up to use;

1) gauge on the end of the rail
2) gauge in the cockpit, via fuel line ( most everyone didn't like the fire hazards associated with this set-up )
3) gauge in the cockpit, with a sensor on the fuel rail

I'm going with #3 myself.

I sent my injectors off to "http://AccurateIS.com", while I had the top off my engine ( and yes, I will look into the fuel lines now as well!!! VERY sorry to have seen those pics, Shane! ). We got into talking about the fuel gauge wars going on Rennlist, since he was into fuel systems, and I told him about the trouble everyone seemed to have, finding a correct reverse ball fitting, to fit onto the end of the fuel rail, and everyone's various efforts to get to the correct point.

I then told him about how I had found a fuel pressure testing system, that had an "adaptor", that came in three pieces, that could be purchased separately, for this system, at about a $78 price tag. MUCH too costly! And, I'd still have to adapt other fittings, to get to a 1/8" pipe thread.

Bill pipes up, and says he's pretty certain he knows which company I'm talking about, says he'll look into finding these fittings, and does!

Since he is seriously into fuel systems, he made the suggestion to remotely mount the sensor, via a braided Teflon lined hose, to the firewall, or fenderwell, to negate any engine vibration. He said he could just mount the gauge at the fuel rail ( for those who just want this set-up ), but the info would only be useful, while the owner was under the hood ( at MOSTLY idle ), not while the engine was under load, where the info would be truly useful. So, he will have a line made for me, once I've decided on where I'll mount the sensor. And the line will have AN fittings on each end, VERY replaceable! Straight, 90, or 45 degree available as well!

I will keep the list posted, as to what all occurs, if there is interest ( and I think there is.... ). This will be good, as there won't be any more hunting for a fitting, I've found a reliable source! And, the fitting is NOWHERE near that $78 price tag!!! The other "accesories" may add some to the end price, but the choices are available!

My next "effort", will be in trying to fit a vacuum gauge, and this fuel pressure gauge, into the spot, where the LCD clock is positioned. My clock has developed that black "cloud", that obliterates the time digits.... And I've no need of a clock in Rosy! It's just a trickling charge drain, all the time. Think I'd like to add Jay's fuel ratio LED light bar while I'm configuring as well, but I don't know what he tapped into, to get his signal.... Nor where he got his LED light bar....

That sounds great.

It would be cool if this could be offered through one of our vendors - I won't say Big three necessarily 'cause I have seen some neat specialty stuff from some 4th & 5th vendors and this could be right up their alley.
