Default Has anyone tried roller rockers on their 928?

*** EDIT*** Disregard the first paragraph. Boy do I feel silly.

I was wondering if anyone had found a compatible roller rocker and tried them out on their 928? This is something that is commonly used to free up some friction on american V8's but I have never heard of anyone trying it on a Porsche. I tried a search but came up empty handed.
While I'm at it has anyone tried an MSD box on their 928's. It may not be much of an improvement, at least on the later model cars. I dodn't really know too much about the ignition on these cars. Maybe they are fine the way they are.

I don't think you're going to find roller rockers for the 928 as it has an overhead cam and no rockers (or pushrods).

The cam pushes the lifter and opens the valve.

I have seen roller lifters, but not for the 928. I was going to look into a set for an audi project i was working on, but wasnt worth the investment. They really are only worth it if you install a cam with very agressive lobes.

I think the 928 equivalent would be solid lifters. Never heard of them being made, nor do I see the advantage as they would have to be adjusted. There are not a lot of hop up parts for these engines, as only 60,000 or so were made in total production as opposed to the chevy small block, where there must still be millions floating around. Mixing and matching is common on these engines, although people like Mark Anderson are doing interesting things like stroker cranks. Superchargers are also quite popular and effective, and there are a few turbos out there as well. The thing is that some of these engines are worth almost as much as the cars they reside in, and pulling one apart isn't cheap unless you are turning the wrenches.

Good point. In 1984 alone Chevy sold 54,000 corvettes.
