Default 87 S4 Cold Start Problem in Hot Weather

My recently acquired Shark (87 S4 A/T) has been reluctant to start from cold, often requiring a few tries to get it started. From hot it seems to start fine. I am not sure if the weather (which has recently been in the high 80's low 90's has anything to do with it. I am suspecting the fuel pump may be a bit weak, any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would guess the fuel pressure check valve. When you say hot, i would assume the engine has been recently ran. When cold its been left over night or somehting. Some where between those two time periods the pressure could be bleeding off slowly in the fuel rails to ZERO. It will take a few cranks, longer than ususal, on the motor to get it going.

Next time when the car is cold and its sat all night, go out and jumper the fuel pump relay to build the line pressure up. Put the realy back in and turn the key. See if it starts any quicker?

thats just one idea? Yo ucould also have a bad temp sensore that regulates the cold/warm start up?
