Default misc questions

I just replaced the factory radio with an aftermarket with aux input so I can use my OmniFi media player. I was just going to remove the factory amp and wire directly, but I couldn't figure out how to get power to the wires at the radio. Obviously, the amp is supplying the power from it's harness, but how can I bypass this, specifically?

Also, when I had the cover of the amp are off, I noticed a very large, round plug with a cap on it. Removing the cap revealed about 20 plug holes, of which maybe 6-8 actually had connectors in them. What is this for?

I was in the spare tire area looking for somewhere to mount the OmniFi unit. I noticed that there was an unplugged connector that feeds up to the hatch lock cylinder. I also found another lock cylinder, with wiring, laying in the spare tire area. I assume that the cylinder has been replaced, which would explain why my key does not open the hatch and why my key does turn this cylinder.

1st, why would the cylinder need replaced if the key still operates it? I assume something electrical.

2nd, what is the unplugged connector to the hatch lock for?

Also, I noticed that when I run the A/C, the car seems very "boggy" and less responsive. Is this normal, or does some maintenance need to be performed?

Is it normal that I can't stop smiling when I'm driving this car?

Sorry, didn't realize my signature was off. It's a 90 S4.
