Default Questions about cam, oil pump gears

Does anyone have any idea what the cam and oil pump gears are made of?
Is it an alloy, or are they all aluminum?
What coating does the factory put on them?

Early engines had all cast steel gears. Then came aluminum cam and oil pump gears. Then the oil gear reverted to steel. All have an anodized hard coating.

(I don't know the actual metalurgy of the aluminum gears, sorry.)

Ken,
I got the cam timing tool yesterday and only got a chance to look it over quickly. It looks verry interesting. Nice job. As soon as I can get the gear coating straightened out, I'll be using it and giving you feedback.
