Is your ride just rough, or are you also getting bump steer? Worn tie rod ends could be letting every little bump upset the car, instead of riding right over them.

It sounds a little silly, but what do your seats look like? Some cars have optional sport seats that aren't as cushy as the standard ones (They are both good seats, just a matter of preference). That padding does help a bit.

 

have 105K on the clock, however the clocked stopped @ 6 months ago acording to the previous owner. measured the supention setup and it is within range per the specs in the nube section. this car is new to me had it about 1 week. front end is tight, motor and tranny are strong, tires are old & the drivers seat is worn out.
Working on the mechanical before I tackle the interior. I am a big guy 6' 240lb. Sorry to hear that the sport seats are uncomfortable I was considering those.

Eric, Can't really say what or how your ride is as everyone has different ideas of soft and hard ride. Take me for instance, I think 76 Caddy Sedan de Ville soft riding (1) and a 84 Vette hard riding (10)The new Eibachs/Boge I put in my car puts my ride as being 7.5 - 8 one that scale. That ride is terrific for me.

Until you get your head under the car and see what kind of shocks you have much of this is speculation. I have talked with thousands of 928 Owners and in all that time only one or two expressed an opinion that it rides harsh unless some prior owner had installed heavy springs and Koni shocks. On the other hand hundreds of owners have stiffened the suspension or asked how they could.

 

I didn't mean to imply the sport seats are uncomfortable. I have the early sport seats in my current car and like them very much, including on long road trips. The standard seats are more cushy, so, depending on taste, some people will prefer them.

 

Sport seats tend to not accomidate larger people very well and the side bolsters make entry exit much more difficult. The projecting bolster gets worn quite quickly.

 

Get under the darn thing and find out which springs and shocks you have!!!!!!!

I have the Konis on my car and my car is very stiff riding. She handles very nice, but is definitely not in the boulevard cruiser category.

I have the soft cushy seat in my 83 euro. I perfer them over the sport seats in the 87 & 88.

 

If you are running with something other than 15 or 16 inch wheels (i.e. 17 inch or more), your ride will be rougher. The amount of profile (sidewall) on your tires contribute to the ride. Lower profile tires equal rougher ride, because the sidewalls are shorter and stiffer, thus giving up some flex (or cushion) in your suspension and transmitting more vibration. If you want a cushier ride, use 15 or 16 inch wheels with a bigger profile (more sidewall to flex).
