Well. I have finally managed to get through the DMV red tape and get a good title for my 84S. It arrived in the mail yesterday. They changed the title from Certificate of Destruction to a Salvage / Rebuildable title. I was hoping for a clean title without the salvage designatoin. At least I can get the car registered now. I have all of the insurance company documentation as to why the car was titled the way it was, so if I ever sell it I will be able to show the buyer what happened. Actually it was not that bad to get it changed once I figured out what needed to happen. Most of my time was spent waiting for the snail mail to get my letters to and from the FL DMV and from the insurance company. I guess I can take the plates from my 81' off of the 84' and put them back where they belong! Thanks to all who offered assistance and suggestions to me during my struggle with this issue.
Way to go Jim....just be careful with your insurance...with a salvage title the insurance company will pay much less than a clear title...but in the case of most 928's they don't pay that much anyway, so its not really a big deal....especially if you carry minimum coverage?
