Default Engine Swap

Hi to all, does anybody know why I wouldn't be able to put an 84 euro engine in an 82 model S. They are both Euros. I know mine has electronic injection and the 82 has CIS but we are going to swap the manifolds over. The things I'm interested in are mounting points and the distributer. The 82 has a single dizzy where as the 84 has the twin, do these just swap over?

Any info appreciated.

Greg

Greg no problem just swap all the CIS and the distributor ,the camshafts are slightly different but it will work fine.

Your probably going to have to fool around with the fuel lines a bit. Oh, and add a fuel accumulator to the pressure side and use the cis fuel pump which has greater fuel pressure.

He is putting the long block from an 84 into a CIS 82 chassis using the CIS intake manifold and CIS ignition so already has the correct fuel lines and accumulator. If it were a USA 82 then Yes more differences but still he just wants to use the long block. Going the other way 82 CIS motor into an LH Injected 84 Euro chassis would have other challenges like the lack of a finished crank position sensor hole.....

Jim appreciate your input, thanks for sharing. I rang a friend who had a 79 CIS car and he had just fitted a 84 euro engine in there. He said he needed to drill out a couple of holes for the old style engine mounts. They apparently have a casting hole for the engine shocks but on the later engines (84) they don't drill them out because that model uses hydraulic mounts.

Do you know about the distributor fitment? It was one of my main concerns.

Cheers and thanks

The distributor is fine and yes the motor mounts are different forgot about that one although I think most engine shocks died long ,long ago.
