Default Full throttle question...

When I really hammer it WOT, it accelerates like mad now that those nearly 2 quarts of trans fluid are back where they need to be. A problem that I have not had before however is that it will not shift into top gear without easing out of the throttle. I watched it climb and climb last night and it hit the rev limiter. Tried it again to be sure it wasn't it a fluke and just didn't have the courage( or lack of good sense, depending on your viewpoint) to let it hit it again, but it was headed that way. You can ease off the gas and however and it will shift and continue on its merry way. I did turn the three turns on the pop out T handle on the shift modulator to crispen things up per a suggestion Wally made in a thread search. Could that be the problem? Sorry so long, but thanks again guys!

I believe you need to re-adjust the kickdown cable. Assuming you have already properly adjusted the throttle cable for WOT, pop the ball connector for the kickdown cable off the pivot, and adjust the connector in or out until it exactly falls onto the ball on the pivot. That is where I would start. Take it for a ride, if the kickdown is not what you want turn it in so there is more tension on the pivot. Try one revolution between test rides.

Another thing I have done inthe past is to completely remove the shift modulator, turn it all the way counter clock wise then clockwise and count the number of full turns until it stops, then divide by 2 to get the mid point. That is where I start. You may have turned the shift modulator to far in.

Sounds great Tib, thanks for the advice. It shifts fine everywhere else, but that rev limiter will cause cardiac arrest. Will surely give it a try.
