'81 to '85 Brake Rotor retrograde ok?
I'm staring down the barrel of a loaded question here...but I need help.
I'm waiting on an S4 update to my front suspension and brakes, and since I'm cheap it's taking a while. The problem is that my front rotors on the '85 are more or less shot. I've got two perfectly healthy rotors on my '81. Is there any reason I can't swap them? It seems like they are at least superfically identical.
I know, less swept area and all that, but I need good enough rotors until I can splurge on the update. I have to change wheel bearings and seals as well, so there is a bit of a project for the coming week.
HELP!

Unless your '81 was updated, the early 16v cars used the same spindles, calipers and rotors through MY '81. None of these parts are interchangable with the '82 - '86.5 equivalents ( '85 rotors are much thicker at 32mm, so the calipers are not suited for the thinner 20mm '81 disc, etc., etc.)
