Default Koenig Engine Cams - Who can I.D. these?

Well I can't stop taking things apart...

Can someone please identify these camshafts. These are the driver side (5-8) cams. My Technical Specs Boolklet only goes from 85 to 89, the closest numbers I can find look like Club Sport camshafts, but the numbers are not exact.

Cam numbers are:
Intake: 928.105.292.6 R, with an I.D. code of 292 08 on the rear end face.
Exhaust: 928.105.294.4 R, with a 294 08 I.D. code.

This engine is coded as a M28.42 (1988), 81J 06781. However, it has a GTS crankshaft and pistons.

I looked through PET and couldnt find an exact match.

the last digit...
.6R and .4 R i cant match?

A big clue is the fact that they dont run the entire length of the head...makes them 87 or newer i believe? Anyone

If they were S4 cams...
and you have a GTS crank and pistons...
would that be a desirbale combi to run?

The mystery thickens..Ill look at my cams up the loft in a bit!

928.105.292.6 R and 928.105.294.4 R are casting numbers. Factory can do more than one cam profile from same raw cast. 292 08 and 294 08 are part of the part numbers.

Total number can be derived by joining
928.105.292.6 R and
292 08.

Result is
928.105.292.08 and
928.105.294.08

First is 5-8 intake on '85-86 32V S engine. Can't find exact match for second one. Same engines 5-8 exhaust is very close with number 928.105.294.07.

Bill,
How do you know it has a GTS crank and Pistons?....just wondering....cause if it does then it would need GTS rods and they are not the rods you would want in a S/C motor.
Maybe custom rods?
It makes you wonder if it is all GTS internals why not the block and cams?

I measured the stroke - its 86 mm. (GTS crank is 85.9 mm) (S4 crank is 78.9 mm).

So this must be a GTS crank, and if so it must have GTS pistons. Because S4 pistons will not work on a GTS crank due to side skirt interference, right?

I just went and got the head numbers: both are 928.104.413.1 R

Make we wonder too.. This entire car is a collection of different model year parts all stuffed together, but it all works! I'm sure the engine is no execption. Whoever at Koenig built this engine sure knew what the hell they were doing at the time in 1991-1992. I just think that over the years and different owners and mechanics that have touched the engine have slowly erroded it true capabiltiy from when it was new.

I think I found it. I misread the last number on the intake cam, it reads 292 09.

Thanks for helping me to read these numbers
