If you have Bilsteins now, the parts list is slightly different. Do you have PET5?
Did this update on the '80 with '85 'S' parts.

my car is an 81 with adjustable konis. I can not understand how it would be possible to do this upgrade without replacing my brand new konis....

MM - I replaced my factory Bilstiens with Konis and added the height adjusters to the Konis. Once the coil is removed from the shock slide the threaded collar (the big nut part that you turn to adjust the ride height) over the top of the shock. Then slide the (smaller) threaded sleeve over the top of the shock it will rest on the stop ring on the shock body. Screw the threaded collar onto the sleeve and put the lower spring perches on top of the nut. I wish I had a picture.... Anyways, its pretty obvious what to do when you get it apart.

** the front threaded sleeves are short and are concealed within the adjusting nut whereas the rear nut travels over a visible threaded sleeve ~ 100mm tall. In each case, the threaded sleeve rests against a welded stop on the Koni shock body. The spring lower perch sits on the adjuster nut, which in turn can move up or down the sleeve. Thusly, they are height adjustable.
Adjustability of the shocks you may be concerned with is an internal valving adjustment - nothing to do with the height adjusters.

I found a shot of the rears. I have Koni internally adjustable and added the perches and collars and adjusting nuts. I know any of the big three 928 parts dealers can tell you exactly what you need.
