Set a goal and kept working till I reached it....PICS
I hadn't expected to have time to work on the car tonight, but my dear wife re-arranged plans so I could. I decided to make the most of the time and set a goal to get oil in the engine.
I started at 9:30 pm and just came in from the garage a few minutes ago...1:40 am (I'm going to hate work tomorrow).
Accomplished:
- Intake is completely installed
- Wiring harnesses are completely hooked up
- Fuel injectors are installed
- New oil filter is on
- THE ENGINE HAS OIL AGAIN!!!

Its almost ZERO hour!
If you can spare a day, id take a day off before you turn the key. It will clear your head and give you a fresh look at things for the big moment when you come back to it. Perhaps another local guy look at it to make sure you havent done somehting stupid on the surface.
crossed plug wires...hose or wire in the fan blades. Silly stuff that will bite ya.
Also, jump the fuel pump relay and check for leaks. It will also presurize the system for a quick start.
Wait until you see how low the car sits after it comes of the stands/ramps. I got a kick out of that.

Out freaking standing Dave. Good for you. Think this with me - YOU HAVE A BRAND NEW ENGINE IN THAT CAR. I pledge one day that I will rebuild an engine myself. What would it take to have an S4 intake on there? Just curious.

Fantastic stuff!
In addition to Tonys comments, you may consider pulling the ignition relay before cranking on the starter first time. Use the starter to drive the oil pump - fill and pressurize the oil galleries before the first

You are THE dancing man! Good wife. BTW, Happy Anniverssary!
Ok, so I cleared it with my wife, I can make it on Thursday if you plan on making it launch day. Just let me know. I'm very proud of you BigDave, as you should be as well. This has been a long road for you and you're almost there. No doubt that you will be making it to SITM. It's gonna be a hoot!

Andrew...plan on coming. I'm pretty sure we can do a key-turning that night. Plus, I'll need help putting the hood back on.
Thanks for the support, guys!

You know what's weird? When I look at those pictures, I can't believe I've had my hands on every square inch and on every fastener attached to that engine.
It's funny to think I'd never even changed the oil on a car before I owned my 928.
