After replacing a motor mount my OB ('79) is purring......most of the time. It is VERY hard to start cold. OK, cold start valve, right? Well, the cold start valve was replaced maybe 400 miles ago. My questions are these, what is the life expectancy of a cold start valve? Is there any gray area between good and bad on them? Can they simply be clogged and require cleaning?
This car sat for a long time and there may be some gunk being worked out of the fuel system. Is there a way to check the valve and avoid replacing it?
Thanks

You need a CIS fuel pressure gauge set to check system and control pressures. Without the gauge you're flying in the dark.
Don't overlook simple things like vacuum leaks either.

Regardless of the fuel pressures if the 9th injector the electric one (front of the plenum) is told to spray fuel by the temperature time switch the car should fire. The auxiliary air valve raises the idle speed AFTER the engine fires to keep help it running. So possibly the engine does not know it is cold (temp/time switch) or the cold start injector has failed or the wiring from the switch to the injector has failed.
