Sure would be nice to just look down at a panel and see what is going on...
Do you mean like this?

I have 12v LEDs fitted to most of the relays, different colours of course, looks like a christmas tree now. This was to help me diagnose a no start - unfortunately it was the cam belt...

Default Catching up...

Hi John!

Sorry for the delay in repsonse, been away on business. I have the car back now and figure I'll drive it a bit to get a better feel for what is really going on.

I did as you suggested... I think the situation is the first that you suggested...the engine itself does not "cut out" per se but I feel a noticeable "hitch" when the barrier is hit and the RPMs drop like a stone to zero on the tach. The engine itself seems to still be running ok, albeit down near idle speed, as the RPMs recover when I upshift.

As I'm driving it more, I do notice that it the barrier seems to float around the gauge. Sometimes I hit it as low as 3200 RPMs, other times up around 4500. If I drive it conservatively, upshifting at 3,000 you would never know there was an issue...

Thanks a million!

Jeff

Hi Bill!

Hey, thanks for the visual man! That is interesting, and gives me a different expectation that I had for the rev limiter... I don't have the high revving or noise, rather it's like someone left the room and flipped off the light switch. One minute it's there, the next the RPMs simple drop off the face of the earth with more of a slightly felt hitch and without a sound...

Thanks...

Jeff

Hey Dave C!

AWESOME summarization and feedback man, sorry for the delay in getting back to you as I've been away...

Great thoughts indeed! I have the car back and have been driving it to get a better feel of what's really going on. I would definitely like to take you up on your referrals...it sounds as if Bob at IRA would be the next plausible step, and I have a good buddy that happens to live in Danvers so it's not so far off the beaten path as it might be otherwise. I'll PM and you can fill me in on the details...

Thanks muchly!

Regards,

Jeff
