Sorry about the confusion.
Don't worry about it. I always look at situations like this as an opportunity to learn something new. And as far as the 928 is concerned there's always something new to learn and sometimes something to unlearn.

I took a look through Pet back to '85 and the ball stud is listed as the same part with no supersesions.

So, John, if you find the evidence please post it so we can all learn.

With the bushing, it just needs to be replaced when the clutch is done. Mine was non-existent when I pulled the arm out.
FYI: when the release arm bushing is gone - as in totally not there - the release arm lever cup will vibrate loudly against the ball when the clutch is engaged with a frequency proportional to engine RPM. The sound will disappear when the clutch is disengaged. It sounds almost - but not quite - like engine knocking / pre-detonation.

I had my clutch updated in March of '98 to the GTS release arm. They did not need to replace the ball. They did install: "Updated Guide Tube, GT Clutch Disc, Clutch plate, Release bearing, Pilot bearing and rear main seal", per the records.

I am about to refresh my clutch again....there seems to be nothing wrong with it, but I would like to have a new disc installed and while I am in there, everything else is gonna get replaced. Parts are already on the bench. If I turn up anything unusual, I will post it.
