I don't have a clue how to set it up for a "live" firing, but I'll be sure to get a video of it. Unless someone around here has the equipment to transfer from a camcorder to the computer, I'll just use the crappy video feature on my digital camera. It'll be poor quality and a large size Quicktime file, but it'll be better than nothing.

Great job Dave. Appears you have covered ALL the WYAIT scenarios. BTW you missed shrink wrapping three of the heads. JK

Dave,

Once the engine is in the bay, the rest is minor stuff.....you've got the devil on the run now! The plastic wrap on the heads is a great idea.

nice progress..

All I can say after helping out yesterday, is that all live ammunition and IED's better be kept far away from BigDave because if this thing doesn't run when he's though with it, HE WILL SHOOT IT! I know this because I've seen the look in his wife's eye.

Got the radiator back in tonight and hooked up the related oil lines. I also managed to connect the flex plate to the flywheel and hooked up a couple of the fuel lines. The rest of the little time I had went to mending some cracks in the wiring harness insulation. Progress continues...

It is nice following the progress and it makes me glad that the 928 will continue to roar and rule the roads.

Hoo Rah Dave, I want to add my congratulations. Now make sure you eliminate any preload on that flex plate..............

Like I said, you are gonna be the coolest guy in your neighborhood.....There can't be any neighbors around who have the stones and tenacity to rebuild a big hot rod Porsche motor.......

Big Dave, "Cool" is thy middle name....

Gretch...the last thing to be tightened on the flexplate will be the allen-head bolt on the coupler where it grips the torque tube. I assume that doing so will ensure that there is no pre-load on the plate. All tension should be gone.

Am I right?

P.S. I tried to pull the fly wheel back with a long screwdriver, but it's snug. Either that, or moving it back requires a lot more pressure on the screwdriver stuck between the block and the flywheel than I'm comfortable applying.

For all the guys like me who know just enough to be dangerous, you're truly inspiring. Awesome work and I admire your patience on this project; it's one I can only dream about carrying out.

First step is to blow the engine... That's where I can help. After that, you're on your own.

The first thing you must learn when helping repair someone else's car is how to repeat the following statement over and over:

"It's ok, it's not my car".

Quick Reply: Engine is back in!
