Default S4 Spoiler

Looking at getting an S4 spoiler for my car. Does anyone have one? I was looking to spend around $100. Does that sound reasonable? I still have to sell the S spoiler that I have as well.

You're certainly not going to get the rare and desirable folding wing for that kind of money. As we learned in this earlier thread the hinges alone sell for $428 a copy!

holy crap! I didn't know that they were a folding spoiler. I just thought it was a regular spoiler...nothing special. Is there a spoiler that looks like an S4 that isn't folding?

Most S4 spoilers are NOT folding - only the early ones were.

Getting a fiberglass copy of an S4/GTS wing is probably your cheapest option and lighter too.

Sorry - I was just having a little fun. Only the early S4s had the folding wing. Based on what we've been able to determine, somewhere in the '87 MY it was discontinued and a replaced by a fixed wing. But my car DOES have one!

I seem to remember some aftermarket replicas (of the non-folding variety that is). I know replacements for the earlier 'S' spoilers are available.

Edit: here's one in fiberglass I found after a quick search:

Don't know anything about it or them.

928FAN ....I do have a used fiberglass replica GTS wing (same as S-4 shape)that has been painted needs some light bodywork smoothing before priming and painting that would be $125 plus shipping . But the glass wing is much lighter than the hard rubber S-4 wing If you wish I can check the actual shipping costs I need your postal code ....P M me

maybe someday the total number of folding wings will be figured out. I am #1134 for 1987 MY. I thought 1400 was the last to get one, but that is a guess. By my sig, you can guess that I care. It sounds like Jim has your best option. Good luck.

My '87 S4 has a fixed wing. The VIN ends in 599.

have you tried yanking it up with both hands??? Otherwise, that theory has a hole in it.

928fan,

You said you are getting rid of your S wing spoiler...how much?

A PO took it off my 1983...and I would like one.

Mine has the folding spoiler but I don't "fold" it often because I feel like I'm going to rip it off - it takes a good pull up to get it to move. What was the purpose of it? Just to be able to clean under it?

Are you SURE it's fixed? Mine was VERY reluctant - probably hadn't been 'folded' for years. I removed the wing and cleaned and lubricated the hinges and NOW it folds.
