I've been wondering about pricing on the S4 5-Speed. Since I bought mine last year the prices I've seen are way higher. Most of them are in better condition than mine was when I got it, but with all of the restore work I've done so far I'm getting worried about replacement cost.

What do you do when your replacement cost the insurance company would offer you (bluebook) is 1/3-1/2 the price you can get one for? Is there special insurance I need to look at getting?

I'm going for a 2 hour drive now and I think I'll cherish th '87 S4 5-speed limited slip even more since I feel like I got a really good deal now.

I have also noticed the price of 5 speed s4's have gone up. If you can't afford a GTS or GT for $25k or more, this is the next choice.

John
Since your 87 is now 18 years old you should qualify for "collectors" car insurance, which basically is a policy for high dollar custom cars that aren't driven very much. Typically they allow only 2500 miles a year, but it is a "I say its worth XXX" replacement value policy usually for around $300 a year. It all depends on how much you drive. My normal policy has my 88 listed as a replacement value of 14,900....which is higher than I thought they would provide!
