Default 928 pulls trailer

This shows the versitility of the 928. Haven't seen many pulling trailers, but they are rated. I think speed is limited to 100 mph or less.

In general there is 80 kph or sometimes perhaps 100 kph speed limit when towing in European countries. Licence plate in picture looks Dutch to me. Any 928 could go much faster but it's deemed unsafe. Also 928 has very high towing capasity for sportcar. They're rated about same as their own weight when in many cases cars can barely tow half of it's weight. 928 can even tow other 928 if one on trailer is gutted racecar and trailer is fairly light design.

Those extension mirrors are likely generic types that are available in here. They're required as there must be direct view to the back from drivers seat. In most countries width of trailer is also limited to tow vehicle width plus something extra (maybe 10"). 928 is quite wide so normal caravan is not a problem. There are some factory promotion pictures where 928 tows trailer full of canoes or Porsche 356.

with such a cool pull vehicle, he could have at least pulled an airstream or something.

The Swedish Porsche dealer in Karlstad has an interesting owner, he bought three 959's and picked the up in Stuttgart with an S4 and trailer. One at the time.

Was there a factory wire harness to run the trailer lights?

My 93 has a factory hitch installed, but they never cut a hole in the rear bumper cover to install a receiver and there is no wire pigtails. Curious as to what it would look like.

That version uses rear bumper. It's not strong enough for serious trailer. Hitch needs to be bolted to body itself.

Yes, and there's even an idiot light in the dash showing the trailer turn signal.

I can't find it called out in the wiring diagrams (except for the light in the cluster) until and after '85, where it's included on the ABS, alarm system, trailer coupling/hitch wiring diagrams (page/sheet 9).

Here's a thread with part numbers: (Towing with a 928?)

When I was in Germany in 03' with my National Guard unit I saw all kinds of cars pullling trailers. Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc... Pick-up trucks are almost non existent over there. I guess you gotta use what you have!

Mine does not make breakfast in the morning... I had to buy a separate Porsche Design coffee maker and toaster to have a Porsche do this for me...
